A few months ago, I was approached by a good friend of mine, to design a logo for their production company. They were after something elegant, sophisticated but slightly eccentric. Much of the research for this logo, involved analysing old style typography, but also very modern san serif logotypes. The challenge was combining the two.
Below are other applications of the Ellandar Productions brand, for their recent show ‘A Night of Deceit’.

It’s been a long time coming, but I’ve finally got around to putting my Grad Poster online. I have actually been doing a fair bit of work, so much so that I haven’t had time to put stuff online. That and I discovered the wonder stumble upon, which led to procrastination. But yes, here it is. Experimentation with found objects. The beginnings of a DVD cover design to be released in the mid year. The brief was after something trippy, spacey and psychedelic.

Direct Mail for Crisis, a charity for the homeless in the UK. Messages include “from shattered to sheltered”, “A life spiraling out of control” and “Five year plan vs a five-day plan”.

Harold the Hairy and the Battle of Breakfast, is a modern day tale of a hairy man by the name of Harold, who, in a rush, has to get to the bus in time for work, but has to face the gauntlet that is, Breakfast, before doing so. The book alludes to metaphors of hilariously, exaggerated grandeur to make this seemingly average 3 minute tale into somewhat of an epic Monty Pythonesque story. Written in an old english/biblical/Shakespearean style and typeset adopting both contemporary and decorative, baroque style typography, this book is both a comical and visual delight.

Corporate design for a coastal living estate near Cockburn Sound.The logo was inspired by coral jewelry, the radial symmetry of the hydra sea animal and abstractly inspired by elements of coastal living. Produced by Cameron Pretsel, September 2009.

Label and branding design for the bourbon-Batch 22. The concept behind this label was to communicate the bourbon’s mysterious history; that the bourbon had been found in an underground cellar, of whom the owner and original distiller was unknown. As well as hiding the identity of the brewer, and creating a sense of intrigue, the bourbon also has a great sense of history behind it, and contains treatments such as staining, burning and fading in the label to bring across this sense of age.

Another ridiculous no ‘briefer’, other than to promote a series of works in an interesting way in the form of a poster. Nonetheless a fun project, one with no limits really. I finally found a use for my matho-mat in a non-mathematical context, and with all the shapes it really is quite appropriate for a design context.
